Polyoxidovanadates' interactions with proteins: An overview

چکیده

Polyoxidovanadates (POVs, previously named polyoxovanadates) are a subgroup of polyoxidometalates (POMs, polyoxometalates) with interesting pharmacological actions that have been tested as potential antidiabetic, antibacterial, antiprotozoal, antiviral, and anticancer drugs. They contain mainly vanadium able to interact proteins, affecting various biological processes. The most studied POV is the isopolyoxidovanadate decavanadate (V10), which interacts proteins and/or enzymes such tyrosine protein phosphatases, P-type ATPases, RNA triphosphatases, myosin actin. However, in many POVs–protein systems, binding sites residues involved interaction not identified. In present review, interactions POVs, well linear trivanadate (V3), both cyclic tetravanadate (V4) two proposed heptavanadate (V7; better described by V10 molecules), through X-ray crystallographic studies. Interactions POVs theoretical spectroscopic studies related muscle contraction, serum, oxidative stress, diabetes were also discussed. sum, herein, we describe POVs’ including acid phosphatase A, receptor kinase, ecto-nucleoside triphosphate diphosphohydrolase (NTPDases), transient cation channel (TRPM4), phosphoglucomutases, myosin, actin, transferrin, albumin, glucosidases, among others. putative effects on impacted POV' stability speciation. modes POVs' include H-bond, electrostatic, H-bond + van der Waals, covalent binding. spectroscopic, computational results, detail.

Rabies Infection: An Overview of Lyssavirus-Host Protein Interactions

Viruses are obligatory intracellular parasites that use cell proteins to take the control of the cell functions in order to accomplish their life cycle. Studying the viral-host interactions would increase our knowledge of the viral biology and mechanisms of pathogenesis. Studies on pathogenesis mechanisms of lyssaviruses, which are the causative agents of rabies, have revealed some important ho...

Hydrophobic interactions: an overview

We present an overview of the recent progress that has been made in understanding the origin of hydrophobic interactions. We discuss the different character of the solvation behaviour of apolar solutes at small and large length scales. We emphasize that the crossover in the solvation behaviour arises from a collective effect, which means that implicit solvent models should be used with care. We...

Analysis of Drug-Drug Interactions with Cyclic Voltammetry: An Overview of Relevant Theoretical Models and Recent Experimental Achievements

In this review, we focus on cyclic voltammetry as a reliable electrochemical technique to study mechanisms, kinetics and thermodynamics of various types of drug-drug interactions. While we present and discuss six theoretical models relevant to analyze drug-drug (or drug-DNA) interactions, we also give hints about recent experimental achievements in this field. In addition, we provide the reader...

Natively unfolded proteins: An overview

Proteins with wholly or partly denatured structures in vivo are called intrinsically disordered or natively unfolded proteins (NUPs). Functional importance of NUPs was revealed by NMR studies as first reviewed by P. Wright in 1999. Since then, computational analyses on NUPs have also been intensively carried out to predict that approximately one third of eukaryotic proteins are NUPs. I will sta...

An Overview of Microbial Interactions with Sediment Dynamics

In aquatic environment, microorganisms such as bacteria and microalgae usually secrete a matrix of mucilaginous extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) to form a “microbial biofilm” when they are associated with solid surfaces (e.g., sediment particles, plant surfaces). Biofilms and the associated mucilaginous secretions form a cohesive matrix surrounding sediment particles, modifying the sedi...
